JAM STIX
Craftsman: John A. McLean
Fluent Ojibway speaker from Pinaymootang First Nation, aka, Fairford, currently resides in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
High School Teacher, Adult Education Instructor.
I started working on Diamond Willow Walking Sticks in 2013 while teaching up north in the remote fly-in community of Red Sucker Lake, Manitoba. So far, up to July 2021, I have finished 210 walking stix and sold them throughout Canada, from Toronto, Ontario, to Cochrane, Alberta and many places in-between. JAM STIX sold in Colorado, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona and Alaska, USA. One custom ordered JAM STIX was sold to a man who sent it to his father in China. Former co-workers from Guyana, South America and Zimbabwe, Africa also bought one each. Having sold and shipped a JAM STIX to China and selling the finished product in parts of the USA qualifies me as an International Craftsman.
Each walking stick is handcrafted and takes approximately 4-5 hours to complete.
